Internship/Job Shadow
Project Management
For my job shadow experience my junior year, I worked with a project manager, Heather Berget, at Century Link. During this job shadow, we went over what the job is, how to get the project management certification, and what a normal day looks like. I learned from her that in college, I could get any degree no matter if its art, business, engineering, I can still get the certification. When asking her questions, I asked her what specific skills I would need to be a project manager; she told me the skills I would use the most are communication and organization. Communication is important because its how you communicate with coworkers and other workers on the project being done. Organization is important because the project manager is in charge of keeping all data, plans and anything related to the project. If you misplace important information, it can set the project back. Part of the job shadow was me observing her while she was working. I noticed that she was working on up to five different projects at a time; some are small, some are big. She uses Excel to form her spreadsheets to organize all her work and information. Overall I learned a lot about what project management is, how projects differ by company and that project management is a very influential job.

Marketing
During Summer 2019, I interned at a start-up company in Denver called PEEKaMEET. PEEKaMEET is a networking app built to connect people within a specific radius. The app is similar to LinkedIn but is real time, with people on the app who you can connect with. On this app you can connect with new people, attend networking events, and see who is near you. I worked with PEEKaMEET for 5 weeks over the summer focusing on marketing tasks. While there I worked on create t-shirt designs, created window clings, sidewalk stickers, and I also heavily focused on their new app design. I helped construct all of the new app faces and how they would look. Aside from working on marketing tasks, I also attended their networking events where I helped promote the app and get people to join it. I learned a lot during my time there with working with deadlines, getting feedback on what I was working on, and being able to communicate and work with new people. After my internship ended, I continued to do freelancing work with them. Since then I have helped them create a retractable banner, and get to know you bingo cards.
