Internships/Job Shadow
For all my internships I worked with employees from Janus Henderson Investors, a mutual fund company.
Human Resources Operations
For three days of internships I worked with a lady named Lisa Pedrianes. She is the Sr. Human Resources Operations Administrator. I helped Mrs. Pedrianes file her coworkers files and sort and put together incoming employees. I learned a lot about how organized you need to be in a job like this and how important it is to be able to file things correctly. I was also taught how to file employee's information based on whether their files were active or not active. Active files were current employees and non-active files were employees who no longer worked at the company. During these three days, I learned how to archive files so that the cabinets were not packed. I helped her sort names to match termination files and then I had to sort all medical files and put them with the other employee files. This experience was very enlightening for me because I feel like I was able to learn a lot about what it takes to be in the corporate world in a large business. I know that in what ever career I pursue, I will have to file at one point or another. By learning the basics of it now, I can prepare myself for it in the future.

Foundations and Communication Relations
On my second day of internships, I worked with Demesha Hill, who is the Janus Foundations and Communication Relations Manager, and Moira McNeil, who is Demesha's assistant. Demesha and Moira deal with running funds and creating large donations for various organizations. They also run events within the company such as Take Your Kid to Work Day. What I helped both of them with is helping to set up their Take Your Kid to Work Day. My day started out by sorting baby wipes and putting the appropriate amount in groups. I then organized snack bins for all groups of kids. I had to organize how many of each snacks went where and how many each group should have. After that I went to the copy room and grabbed printed out business cards with all attending kids names on it. I then sorted all of them by what group they were in. Each kid had ten business cards that I had to put together. Once I organized that I helped put the business cards in each group before they got moved to the designated rooms. The second day working with them was where I was supposed to run a room for kids day but I could not attend for a family emergency.

Marketing
On my last two days of internships I worked with a lady named Susan Cattand, who is the Assistant Manager of Corporate Events. This internship was very interesting for me because when I enter the work force, I want to be involved in Marketing and Events. During this internship, a lot of what I did was inventory and organizing. I helped organize boxes, with information, gifts and other things for an event the company was hosting. I had three checklists of things that needed to be in those boxes. While organizing the boxes I had to create table number cards, I had to sort postcards, and I had to count the amount of t-shirts needed. The other major thing I did was inventory. Susan had me count many different things such as t-shirts, Yeti mugs, pens, sharpies, lanyards, notebooks, small first aid kits and bags. This was very enlightening for me because it helped me understand how important it is to know what items you have in stock. By doing this, I allowed the people I worked for to know how many items there were so they could prepare for their future events. The last major thing I did was file documents and throw away unneeded materials. This entire experience showed me how much hard labor they have to do, how organized they have to be, and how important it is that they have all the needed materials; otherwise their events would not go smoothly. This was by far my favorite experience because this is what I want to do when I am older. Learning about this now will definitely prepare me for my future.
